Hazard, KY. (May 25, 2021) –Kentucky State Police Commissioner Phillip Burnett, Jr. announced the promotion of Lieutenant Claude E. Little to Major where he will serve as the Director for the Special Enforcement Division. Little assumed his new duties effective May 1, 2021. In his new role, Little oversees eight branches including Cannabis Suppression, Drug Enforcement Special Investigations, Aircraft, Vehicle Investigations, Special Operations, Critical Incident Response Branch, and the Intelligence Branch.

Burnett says Little is a seasoned investigator with the agency and will be an asset in this new leadership role.

“Major Little is a respected member of this agency and has a level of investigative experience that will enable him to hit the ground running,” said Burnett. “I’m honored to have him serve on the KSP Executive Command Staff and look forward to his future accomplishments.” A 25-year veteran of the agency, Little has served KSP in many roles including: Trooper, Sergeant, and Lieutenant with the Drug Enforcement-Special Investigations East Unit and Commander of the Critical Incident Response Team. He has also served at Post 5 Campbellsburg, Post 9 Pikeville and Post 13 Hazard. He is often sought out by other agencies for assistance with critical cases and to provide training to other law enforcement.

A native of Letcher County, Little is a graduate of Whitesburg High School and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky. in 1989.  He resides in Whitesburg with his wife Wendy and sons Luke, Sam, and Jonah.
