Lost Creek, KY. (August 3, 2021) –On Sunday, August 1, 2021, at approximately 8:53 P.M, Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a call in reference to a shooting on Upper River Caney Road in the Lost Creek Community of Breathitt County.
Troopers and Detectives responded to the area and located Matthew White, 37, of Lost Creek, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. White was transported to the U.K Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. James Henry White, 41, of Lost Creek, was identified as the shooter. James Henry observed Matthew White and several other unknown subjects attempting to gain access into a residence on Upper River Caney Road. James Henry White told the subjects to leave the area. He then went inside his residence and retrieved a firearm. Upon him coming back outside, the subjects were still attempting to gain access to the residence. James Henry fired several shots in the direction of the subjects striking Matthew White.
At this time, no charges have been filed. This incident will be presented to the Breathitt County Grand Jury and remains under investigation by Detective Clayton Stamper.
