HENDERSON, Ky. (March 28, 2019)—A Kentucky State Police trooper patrolling Henderson observed a 2001 GMC Sonoma traveling on Washington Street about 11:30am. The trooper conducted a traffic stop due to the drive not utilizing his seatbelt. The trooper identified the driver as Jeffery Brown, 33 of unknown address. While conducting field sobriety tests, the trooper located suspected methamphetamine and marijuana on Brown. Brown then took off running from the trooper. The trooper gave chase and caught the suspect attempting to jump over a metal fence. Brown refused to cooperate with the troopers commands and resisted arrest. The trooper deployed his issued Taser which helped him gain compliance to effect the arrest.
Mr. Brown has been charged with the following offenses:
1) Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine)
2) Possession of Marijuana
3) No Insurance
4) Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License
5) Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st
6) Fleeing/Evading 1st Degree (Foot)
7) Failure to Surrender Revoked/Suspended License
8) Failure to Wear Seatbelts
9) Resisting Arrest
He is lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center in Henderson.
