HENDERSON, Ky. (June 20, 2022)—A Kentucky State Police trooper patrolling the Audubon Parkway observed a silver Chevrolet Camero heading eastbound at 80 miles-per-hour in a 70 miles-per-hour zone around 2:30pm. The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop around the five-mile-marker; however, the operator sped up to over 150 miles-per-hour in an effort to flee. The pursuit crossed into Daviess County where a stationary trooper utilized a tire deflation device which was effective. The suspect attempted to exit onto KY 1554 but could not stop and crashed into a guardrail. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.
Troopers, deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, KSP’s Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations and KSP’s Canine Unit captured the suspect in the wooded area near the Sorgho Cemetery. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Troopers located a large amounts of illegal drugs scattered in the woods. (Additional charges are pending with KSP’s Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations Division)
The suspect was identified as Meko D. Levels, 29 of Evansville. He was arrested and transported to Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.
Mr. Levels was charged by Kentucky State Police with the following offenses:
- Speeding
- Fleeing/Evading 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
- Fleeing/Evading (On Foot)
- Reckless Driving
- Wanton Endangerment -1st
- Disregarding Stop Sign
- No Insurance
- Failure to Signal
