RUMSEY, Ky. (September 29, 2022) Kentucky State Police Post 16 – Henderson received a call from McLean County Sheriff’s Department around 5 pm of a multiple vehicle injury collision on KY 81 near Drain Pond Road south of Rumsey.

Preliminary investigation reveals 63-year-old Michael G. McDowell of Marion, KY was traveling northbound on KY 81 in a 2008 Chevrolet van. For an unknown reason, McDowell dropped off the shoulder of the roadway where he overcorrected his vehicle losing control. His van slid into and striking a southbound 2022 Honda van head-on driven by Andrea R. Howell, 61 of Sacramento. Howell’s van then struck Troy L. Gossett, 52, of Owensboro who was driving northbound behind McDowell in a 2016 Ford Explorer.

Howell sustained an arm laceration and taken to Owensboro Health for treatment. McDowell was checked by medics and released on-scene.

Sacramento Fire Department, Calhoun Fire Department, McLean County EMS, and McLean County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies assisted troopers at the scene.
