Earlington, Ky. (Hopkins County) – Kentucky State Trooper Ridge Porter, of KSP Post 2, Madisonville, was patrolling the Earlington community on September 21, 2020. While on East Farren Avenue, he observed a passenger not wearing their seat belt in a 1997 red Pontiac Grand Prix.
Trooper Porter initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle around 4:12 p.m., where he identified the operator as 55-year-old Vickie Moore, of Earlington, Ky. Trooper Porter suspected Moore of being under the influence, and during the investigation, Hopkins County Deputy Brad Ross arrived on scene to assist. Deputy Ross deployed his K9, who indicated the vehicle contained narcotics.
While searching the vehicle, Trooper Porter and Deputy Ross discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The trooper reported some of the illegal items were in close proximity to a 17-month-old, who was a backseat passenger.
Vickie I. Moore was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center, where she was charged with the following:
- Failure to Wear Seat Belts
- Careless Driving
- Failure to Produce Insurance Card
- DUI 2nd
- Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
- Drug Paraphernalia- Buy/Possess
- Possession of Marijuana
- Controlled Substance Endangerment to Child, 4th Degree
