Glasgow, Ky. (January 13, 2023) – On Friday, January 13th, 2023 just after 12:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a fatal collision in Barren County. Troopers responded to the scene of the collision located at the intersection of KY-90 (Happy Valley Road) and Harry King Road.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Robert E. Purcell, 74, of Louisville, was operating a 2023 Chevrolet commercial vehicle west on KY-90 near the intersection of Harry King road. Purcell’s vehicle, for unknown reasons, crossed the center dividing line and into the path of oncoming traffic. Purcell’s vehicle struck a 2016 Chevrolet pickup being operated by Matthew Webb, 48, of Bonnieville, in a head on manner. Robert Purcell and Matthew Webb were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.  A passenger in Webb’s vehicle, Matthew E. Shrock, 37, of Munfordville,  was transported to T.J. Sampson Hospital in Glasgow and later to Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he succumbed to wounds sustained in the collision and was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is being led by Trooper Michael Wathen. He was assisted at the scene by Barren County EMS, Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren County Coroner, and KSP personnel.
