HARDINSBURG, Ky. (December 30, 2022) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a two-vehicle collision in Breckinridge Co. Wednesday evening that later resulted in a fatality.
On Dec. 28, at approximately 6:00 P.M. CST, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Breckinridge Co. Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in investigating a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US 60 and KY 144.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Marian Novak, 91, of Cloverport, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on US 60 when she attempted to make a left turn onto KY 144 and into the path of a eastbound 2005 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer. The commercial motor vehicle was being operated by Freddy Brown, 37, of London, KY.
Novak was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Brown reported no injuries to authorities. On Dec. 29 approximately 3:15 P.M. CST, KSP Post 4 investigators were notified Novak had succumbed to her injuries resulting from the collision.
The affected portion of US 60 was closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Breck Co. Sheriff’s Office and Breckinridge Co. EMS. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Tpr. Jesse Harp.
