Irvington, Ky. (March 2, 2023) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatal collision on US 60 near Irvington on Thursday around 9:41 p.m. CT.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2014 Honda passenger car being operated by 21-year-old Jacob Gardner of Irvington was traveling West on US 60. A 2021 Mack Truck being operated by 39-year-old Corey Calloway of Rockport, IN was traveling East on US 60, when for an unknown reason crossed the centerline. Calloway attempted to steer back into his lane to avoid the collision; he was not able to avoid striking Gardner with the driver side rear of his truck.
The Breckinridge County Coroner pronounced Gardner dead at the scene. Gardner and Calloway were both wearing their seat belts.
Trooper Tyler K. Lynch is investigating the collision, assisted by units with Kentucky State Police Post 4 Elizabethtown, the Breckinridge Co Sheriff’s Office, EMS, Custer Fire Department and Irvington Police Department.
