Bardstown, KY. (August 21, 2020) – Two separate vehicle collisions in Nelson County results in one fatality Thursday evening. On August 20, 2020, a little after 10:00 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 4 Elizabethtown received a call from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance with a two-vehicle collision which resulted in a fatality at the 22-mile marker on the Bluegrass Parkway. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Ford pickup truck operated by Jason Robeck, 26 years of age of Bardstown, was traveling westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway when for unknown reasons he entered the median before overturning several times and coming to rest in the eastbound lanes. A second collision occurred when a 2012 Hyundai passenger car traveling eastbound and being operated by Amy Bunch, 34 years of age of Bardstown, struck Robeck’s vehicle.
Robeck was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner’s office. Bunch was not injured and required no medical treatment. The affected portion of the Bluegrass Parkway was closed for approximately four hours to allow troopers to investigate the collision.
Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department, Bardstown Fire Department, Nelson County EMS, Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Coroner’s Office. This collision remains under investigation by Trooper Scott Wheatley.
