Shepherdsville, Ky. (August 6, 2020) — On August 6, 2020, at approximately 9:17 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Charles H. Ray, 34, on charges related to child sexual abuse material and promoting a minor in sexual acts.
Ray was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.
The investigation resulted in a search warrants at residences in Shepherdsville on August 6, 2020. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.
Ray is currently charged with ten counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance, five counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance (Class-D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison) and one count of promoting a minor in a sexual performance (Class-B felony punishable by ten to twenty years in prison). Ray was lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
