The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office also charged Michael Lepper with criminal charges that resulted from the pursuit earlier this date originating in Gallatin County. The previously issued press release which is attached below is in reference only to the involvement that Kentucky State Police Post 5 had in the investigation and the charges that stemmed from that investigation.
Owenton, KY. (02/24/2022) – Kentucky State Police Post 5 was contacted in reference to a pursuit that originated in Gallatin County when the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and the pursuit continued into Owen County.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 Troopers and Detectives responded. They are conducting the ongoing investigation and collision reconstruction resulting from an individual being injured when the fleeing vehicle struck a civilian’s vehicle during the pursuit with the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office. The injured subject was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital by Air Methods.
Preliminary investigation has led to Kentucky State Police Post 5 charging the driver of the fleeing vehicle, Michael Lepper, a 31 year old male of Walton, Kentucky with Assault 1st Degree and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Lepper was transported to Carroll County Detention where he was lodged.
The Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by Owen County Sheriff’s Office, Owenton Police Department, Owen County EMS, Air Methods, Owenton Fire Department, Owen County Fire Department, Jonesville Fire Department, and Owen County Search and Rescue.
