Butler, KY (May 11, 2020)- The Kentucky State Police in Dry Ridge received a call for service on Saturday, May 9th at approximately 9:15am in reference to a single vehicle collision that occurred on KY 609 in Pendleton County.
The initial investigation indicates 40-year-old Mark Hofstetter, of Falmouth, was operating a 1993 Ford Ranger, traveling southbound on KY 609 before he exited the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Trooper Semlar arrived on scene to find the vehicle engulfed in flames. He attempted to use his issued fire extinguisher, but was unable to subdue the fire. The Pendleton County Coroner pronounced Hofstetter dead at the scene and later confirmed his identity at an autopsy performed yesterday evening. A toxicology is pending.
The ongoing investigation is being led by Trooper Matthew Semlar. He was assisted on the scene by KSP personnel, Pendleton County Sherriff’s Office, Pendleton County EMS, Pendleton County Fire Department, and Pendleton County Coroner’s Office. No further information is available for release at this time.
