GARRISON, Ky. (August 10, 2023) –On August 9, 2023, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Morehead was contacted by Lewis County Dispatch requesting assistance with a death investigation. Lewis County Dispatch received information of a deceased female in the community of Garrison.

KSP investigators along with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, located a deceased female inside a residence with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The female has been identified as Kylie Weitz, 20 years of age from Garrison. Lewis County Coroner, Tony Gaydos, pronounced the female deceased at the scene. Through the investigation, detectives determined that Damien Hebbler, 20 years of age from Garrison, discharged the fireman fatally wounding Ms. Weitz. Damien Hebbler was arrested and charged with Murder. He is lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center.

KSP was assisted by Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and the Lewis County Coroner’s Office. This incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Morehead.
