ALLEN, Ky. (January 31, 2023) – Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post was notified of a two-vehicle fatal collision in Floyd County at approximately 8:04 a.m. on January 30, 2023. The collision occurred on Kentucky Route 1428 in the Allen community of Floyd County.

Upon arrival and through investigation, troopers discovered 39-year-old Paula Vazquez of Prestonsburg was operating a 2000 Toyota Echo when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a 2016 Ford F-250, operated by 49-year-old John Goble of Prestonsburg. Vazquez was pronounced deceased on scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office. A juvenile passenger of the Toyota Echo was transported from the scene for medical treatment where they later succumbed to their injuries. The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Reconstructionist, Detective Jason Merlo.

Detective Merlo was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
