SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (November 14, 2022) – At approximately 7:21 am, the Kentucky State Police, Post 9 in Pikeville, was notified of a single vehicle collision involving a Magoffin County school bus on KY 40/Horsepen Fork. The initial investigation indicates the school bus was traveling west bound on Kentucky Route 40 when the bus exited the roadway and went over an embankment.
Eighteen children, ranging from elementary, middle, and high school, and the driver were on the bus at the time of the collision. Injuries of the occupants range from minor to critical injuries. The details of the collision are under investigation.
KSP was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Kentucky State Police Post 13 personnel, Magoffin County Volunteer Fire Departments, Morgan County Volunteer Fire Departments, Johnson County Volunteer Fire Departments, Floyd County Volunteer Fire Departments, Emergent Ambulance Service, Lifeguard Ambulance Service, Jan Care Ambulance Service, Netcare Ambulance Service and Air Evac.
