Belfry, KY (July 25, 2018) Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post 09, are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on US 119 in the Belfry community.
Just after 10:00 AM Kentucky State Police Post 09 received a 911 call of a vehicle crash with a pedestrian possibly involved.
Upon Troopers arrival it was discovered there were two vehicles involved in the crash and a pedestrian had been struck by one of the vehicles involved. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.
Troopers and other responding agencies are on the scene and will remain there for most of the day. The roadway access is limited and it is recommended to look for other routes while traveling in the area for safety, and to avoid being held up for long periods of time at this scene.
This accident is under the investigation of the Kentucky State Police. Further details will be released as they become available.
Update (July 25, 2018) In the beginning of this investigation it was thought there were two vehicles involved in the crash. It has been determined there was only one vehicle. There was one fatality of a pedestrian being struck by the vehicle involved. As the vehicle was traveling Southbound on US 119 it left the roadway and struck Robin Gail Porter as she was walking beside the roadway. The vehicle then struck a utility pole and an earth embankment. Porter was pronounced deceased by the Pike County Coroner’s office at the scene. Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash and no charges have been made in the case.
