Pikeville, KY. (September 20, 2022) – The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a 911 call on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 6:42 p.m. regarding a shooting in Pike County.

KSP investigators responded to a residence on Caney Drive and discovered a male had been shot. The initial investigation indicates an altercation between Monroe Jackson and Ryan Hurst resulted in Jackson discharging a firearm fatally striking Hurst.

Ryan Hurst, 32 years old of Flatwoods, KY, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pike County Coroner’s Office.

As a result of this investigation, Monroe Jackson was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. Jackson is currently charged with Murder.

Detective Cody Stiltner is leading the investigation. He was assisted on scene by KSP personnel.
